The Lompoc Theatre Project reached out to our community with two major fundraisers in 2019. Our mid-year ask campaign raised over $30,000.00 in June and July. Local residents were contacted through direct mailings as well as social media outreach.
In November we launched our end of the year fundraiser with a Giving Tuesday campaign. Once again, fans of the Theatre donated to our project.
Lompoc Chalks has become a major fundraiser for LTP
When Lompoc local Don Fletcher came to the LTP in 2018 with the idea to organize a local chalk festival it did not take much convincing to jump on board. In 2019 we held our 2nd annual event, the second weekend of October, and had over 40 community sponsors with support from artists, musicians, and businesses. It is a fun weekend for all ages that promotes our robust art community. Pop up chalk drawings could be found around town prior to the event and outreach lessons were taught by Fletcher and friends at Helping Hands, one of our community mental health organizations.
The weekend included activities for all to enjoy with funds being raised by square sponsorships and donations.
Breathing Life Back into our Grande Dame
In 2018 The Lompoc Theatre Project received a $15,000.00 grant from the Towbes Foundation specifically earmarked for building restoration. With additional funds, we were able to renovate three of our commercial spaces over the course of several months. Three spaces are currently occupied by local businesses and provide a monthly income for our project! Our goal is to restore the remaining spaces, most of which have been vacant for over thirty years.
The roof repairs have been challenging as we can only afford to band aid the issues. Our goal to redo the entire roof looms in the future as it requires a substaintial sum of money to do it properly. However, in order to preserve the inside from water damage it remains a priority on our to do list.
