Lompoc's 5th annual chalk festival puts the 'art' in City of Arts

October 9, 2024

Dozens of artist of all levels reported to Lompoc's airport grounds over the weekend as part of the community's fifth annual chalk art event that drew hundreds of spectators celebrating the City of Arts and Flowers.

The weekend 'Lompoc Chalks' event featured live entertainment, youth activities, craft and informational booths, local vendors, food trucks β€” and plenty of vibrant chalk paintings.

Some expert-level artists visiting from up and down the state included Southern Californians Jennifer Ripassa and Lori Antoinette, Bay Area resident Clifton Gold and Los Angelino Delphine Anaya.

This year, high school freshman Alina Villegas Trejo took home first place with her salsa and samba solo, 17-year-old Landon Gaspar placed second with his lyrical dance solo, and seventh-graders Emily Naranjo-MagaΓ±a and Natalie Salas placed third for their fiery flamenco duo.
